My mother! 30 plus years ago. I only have a black and white photo handy
right now.
Even though my grandmother said I was the most b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l grand
baby ....her first.....(?) she had EVER seen*...
some folks look at my mother (AND FATHER**) with her much lighter
skin, her waist length hair and etc., and say, "SHE'S beautiful! WHAT
happened to y'all!"
Funny, huh? Can't folks with a "few" missing teeth get some love, too?
YES!!
And does those comments mean my mother is any less beautiful? And
that I should become upset because once someone called her my
YOUNGER sister? NO! They were ALWAYS mistaking her for my
SISTER when we were younger! But YOUNGER sister? "Gosh, how OLD
do I LOOK?" I guess I looked old because of all my wild living!
Okey dokey. No problemo.
My mother to the "younger sister" comments? "Oh, they just need
glasses."
Gosh, life isn't some big beauty contest anyway. WE weren't raised that
way anyway.
My mother would just "pooh-pooh" such comments and would just get
upset if we criticized ANY parts of our bodies. She still does.
I LOVE my mother!!
AND my dad!
And they taught us to love each other.
* My dad is as handsome as ANY man but he looks a little differently.
Although God KNOWS it is not the ONLY definition of beauty, my mother
has more mixed ancestry. I love my family.
** I was. Are you calling my grandmother a LIAR? Just review an OLDER
photo on this site. Not the BABY picture but close enough. My sister said
when SHE came along, they "dumped" me (and I was told they
did...somewhat.) because they saw the REAL definition of beauty then.
lol.
Peace and love, folks.

today.)
