Magicians
and
Illusionists

Illusionists
vs
Gambling.

Hmmm. Interesting. Both very exciting as long as two aren't combined as a single activity.

I guess I can understand how some would get ideas because many times illusionists, like
many other types of performers, perform their feats at gambling establishments. I think.

Why mention this subject?

Yes, I know gambling is considered a sin by some people, even if it is just a leisurely activity.
I definitely respect that. Gambling can ruin homes and friendships. But there is even
gambling in the Bible when participants had to pick lots. Some people still believe that God
can guide their hands. I wonder if that is the ONLY thing they believe. (smile)

I mention this subject because many time we want to take a subject and take it somewhere
waaaaaaaaaaaaayyy "out in the stratosphere" and when the more interesting subject matter
is closer to home.

Forget about ESP when "magic" (or sleight of hand) is so much more easier. And so much
potentially profitable.

Of course, it can be a dangerous occupation, too: No one likes to be cheated!

And, sometimes I wonder about the animals involved, too.

Like I said before: I am no ninny! However, I am deeply grieved when one of those gorgeous
horses, which are a magnificent work of God's handiwork, are injured at the race tracks.
When we see the stamina and endurance of Triple Crown Winners like
Secretariat and
Affirmed?
.

See the video of the last Triple Crown Winner, Affirmed,
on the last leg of the journey at the
Belmont Stakes in 1978!

And, yes, I know some even consider racing animals cruelty. I consider it a beauty to behold!
When I was younger, I never missed a Kentucky Derby (and etc.) race. On TV.

But no more Triple Crown Winners since 1978? But we do hear about a lot of pain and
suffering of the horses. What is going on there? Weaker breeding or something more
sinister? I don't know but I wonder about it. A lot. As I have said before,
in extreme anger,
"You would think that if an animal can win an owner and advertisers millions and millions of
dollars, the LEAST they can do is KEEP IT ALIVE and let it enjoy a peaceable and dignified
retirement!

But you know how it is nowadays: Caring about animals "too much" is just plain crazy."

Afterthought: Something even more sinister than the prospect of animals being abused? A
gambling addiction. I would think that it could creep up on ya!  If you have a problem,
Get
help. Now. As I have heard, the addiction is not so much about WINNING but the thrill of the
game and ALL of its aspects!  Doesn't make sense to me but that is the current theory:
some people just like the GAME and the PROSPECT of winning! They just like to PLAY
whether they are losing a lot of money or not! It is just like any of games, except the players
are playing with MONEY that they may need to pay bills and buy groceries with.

Also remember that some people can lose lots of money gambling
not because they have an
addiction but just because they are just stupid. And some
have been cheated. I suppose that
is the reason some people call it a "devil's game": the house
always win, especially in a bad
economy. The house SHOULD win and the odds SHOULD be in their favor! Or else casinos
would not be a business; they would just be charities
GIVING away money!

I must admit. I don't enjoy JUST gambling. I've never been to a casino. Although I heard one
famous entertainer say that he has seen so much depravity in casinos that he can't STAND
the idea of gambling; some parents have offered him their OWN CHILDREN so they could
pay for gambling,
I  would think working for security  for a casino (and seeing it ALL and
PREVENTING it FROM HAPPENING) would be VERY exciting!

Of course, business owners can do what they want and most likely call it what they want. If it
is money OUT OF THEIR POCKETS. (Careful: Some other people may call it money
laundering, though...smile)  That is as long as the
losers are genuine losers, AND the money
is NOT coming out of THEIR pockets, or it could get ugly, huh? (smile) Don't let me get
started on my speech about freedoms and how it encourages ingenuity.
