Tentative Mission Statement for this page:
First draft. (Could be final draft, too. I don't have time to get my pronouns right. A polished
mission statement will be developed later. I just want certain folk to know I am "there for
you". )
Preliminary statement:
This is a boring subject. But I guess since no one else will discuss these (what some
would call off the wall)matters, I would have to be the fool who would try. (smile) Some folks
really want to delve into this, possibly from the "deliverance" angle. Therefore, this page
may be necessary IF no other resources are available elsewhere. They will be provided
here. I am not afraid to discuss them.
Mental evaluation would be advisable before continuing further, though. Assumptions can
get you in trouble here.
First statement:
The truth.
If a person
will not
or
can not
or
do not
accept the truth,
the will believe a lie. (*This is why)
Second statement:
...who exchanged the truth...for the lie. ...for this reason God gave them up...and even as
they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind,
to do those things that which are not fitting. Romans 1:25, 26, 28.
Most would associate those scriptures with homosexuality and probably rightly so. But we
will not be discussing homosexuality on this page, so you will get no feedback on those
perceptions. So deal with it.
(Please do not miss the point here because if you continue to read, whether you are for
gay rights or not, you will notice that the entire book of Romans is telling us that "all have
sinned and that all have come short of the glory of God." I guess the debate for some is
what precisely the sin is. No discussion on that matter here.)
Yes, there are some truths out there but I mentioned those wonderful statements above
because this is a boring subject precisely because folks will not listen and because they
will insist on believing a lie even when repeatedly offered proof. And that is why they
encounter problems. So why deal with such a boring subject? (And this subject has
nothing to do with homosexuality.) When one insists on believing a lie, the mind can "say"
a lot of things. Long and very complex subject in that area.
That is the first thing we must realize before we begin this discussion. The mind can be
tricky.
Let us keep our minds open to a certain extent.
However, when you believe a lie, your mind can very easily rationalize making a falsehood
a "reality. Admittedly, sometimes you will get plenty of help from other people who may tap
into that weakness, bringing in a social aspect. However, one cannot blame others for
one's propensity to accept the falsehoods. That could be the mental illness. The entire
field of psychiatry focuses on the chemical imbalances that causes mental illnesses.
However, in many cases after those imbalance has been corrected/treated, the mind has
to be retrained into a new way of thinking because some of those old ideas remain. They
don't just "go away". That would be called "psychotherapy".
Third and last statement:
I am not an expert in these matters and I never intend to be either. (Yawn). But then who
is? The brain is one of the new frontiers, also. However, when speaking of these subjects,
how can anyone in their "right mind" not indicate that anyone who discusses these
controversial subjects not mention the state of one's mental health? It should be an
absolute requirement. We interpret questionable phenomena with our brains. A strong,
wise and secure person would insist that it should always be in question. Faith is not
necessarily accusatory but it is not afraid to inquire and apply some scientific principles in
some cases. (I know: controversial statement.)
After those requirements have been met, THEN we can move on.
Note: Indication of a precarious mental health state is not necessarily an indication that
one can not, have not and will not be able to encounter paranormal events that may have
a bit of validity..if they do in fact exist.
Furthermore, such events may contribute to a precarious mental health state for a person
of previous sound mind.
So. In the interest of sound scientific research, let us keep our minds open. But not so
open, as some would say, that any kind "spirits" creep in.
Assignment:
*What does the Bible say about the strong man and sweeping the house and making it
clean?
Please. No relation to the "About Us" site and the cleaning that is going on there.
Remember: make no assumptions about me.
Why do I use so many references from the Bible instead of secular ones?
Because they are in the public domain and, believe it or not, not that much different from
effective secular ones...just said a different way. If you don't like it, save your pennies and
send donations later and I will have the time and money to get more quotes from the
secular field.
