More innovative ideas in the world of travel:
The last post was about being unable to travel because of lack of funds.
The subject will, unfortunately, deal with some of the perils of travel.
No, not the swine flu. Or "visiting" online. (Gosh...the perils, THERE!)
Since the last post was on July 16, 2009, my first subject will be on the death of John J.
Kennedy, Jr and his airplane crash.
I will try to direct you to the site with the best photos, too. No disrespect to the Kennedy clan
but so many you just enjoyed his photogenic good looks.
Personally, I do like the Arts (visual expressions in any form) but I tend to be more into words
(and substance) rather than just looks. Of course, I guess a person can have both.
I don't intend to get into some complicated debate about a Kennedy conspiracy. Again. Of
course, we would all care. However, the "perils of travel" is just about as negative as one can
get right now. I want the next subject to be more positive.
However, today the subject will be John F. Kennedy, Jr, otherwise known affectionately to
some as John-John.
A Memorial.
And...
I was also reminded of John F. Kennedy, Jr. when I was reading about another aviator who
had a tragic demise.......or is assumed to have died tragically. The body was never recovered.
A female Aviator: Amelia Earhart.
Hats off to all those brave souls who endure the perils of travel and inspire us all
.....to just get up off the couch and just go across the street. (smile)
More ideas for the po', the lazy, the fearful on ideas in travel in the next post.

Updated August 3, 2009:
Some of you may say "how dare you write you are trying to encourage travel but write about
the perils of travels and scare the ____ out of people? "That won't encourage travel!"
I would ....SHOULD......response: How dare I NOT!?
I don't want to make rash judgements but maybe some folks just can't recognize authenticity.
This website is not about "pollyannish ads" for any kind of industry. This website is about
advocacy and encouraging others to think "outside the box" (Make sure you understand
which to box I am referring, though.)
Repeat: I created a special site for Travel because travelling is one of the best ways to
encourage that activity.
Another reason I added the above Travel post is because I don't know how in the world we
are going to keep a space program alive (with just private funding) when we can barely keep
airline fleets, such as the supersonic fleet the Concorde, functioning properly. I couldn't find
much info about defunct airlines, though.
It seems that every aspect of our transportation industry is in some kind of distress except the
subways.
Even the horses are distressed.....as noted before. They are dying at the Derby. (NO JOKE!)
So think twice about going back to horses and carriages.
What in the WORLD IS THE PROBLEM?!? Haven't YOU wondered?
Don't say it is just all about money either!
Enough said. Folks, let's make plans to at least cross the street ...or go across town...if NOT
across the world, okay? It is going to take some effort, planning, funds and a bit more
dedication to a worthy cause....connecting to other people, their ideas and .....etc.
Stay tuned to the "real drama" of Travel on this page. It seems to be a dramatic sometimes,
too, huh?

More on the perils of travel.
Forget all those statements that I have written about my own wishes if I am taken "hostage".
Those are my own personal preferences and I want them honored, too. I understand that
others would act differently.
I try to avoid current events but I want to add a small note about those two journalists who
captured by the North Koreans and were faced with a sentence of 12 years of hard labor.
Amazing story. Absolutely amazing story about the "perils" of travel! (Do it anyway!)
There are some questions that any reasonable person of ANY country would have
and NOT accusations:
1. How can any bona fide journalist travel in a country and not be aware of the borders?
2. Where are our priorities?
God knows that I can be accused on inconsistency on many occasions. I am not agreeing or
disagreeing with the policy but why is it that every administration in the recent past have
refused to send any very high ranking official to negotiate any kind of settlement with the
North Koreans to stop a "world wide nuclear disaster"
that would save millions of innocent lives?
However,
all those protocols (whether you agree with them or not) have been abandoned in order to
rescue
just
two
journalists (God bless them!)
who crossed the border
"by accident"?
Why?
I am afraid of the possible answers to the above questions, too. So I may never get them. May
God help us.
Maybe it was it the personal friendship/relationship between all the American participants?
Maybe so. Yes, that was it. But I have to agree with recent statements by General Colin
Powell: those North Koreans appear to be absolutely BRILLIANT negotiators!
No judgements. No accusations. Just some "concerns" that reasonable individuals may have
about some of the "perils" of travel. And Asia is such a lovely place with lovely people, too!
We will still focus on destinations there. At least, the plane made it there and back. That is
very good news!

More info about the negotiations and other negotiations for hostage releases from North
Korea before the "big freeze".
Hmmm. Very nicely worded. I don't want to be a distraction (and trust me: I won't be) so I will
try not to add any other comments. I LOVE all types of public service even though to some
people it is a curse word. However, I hate politics (for many reasons), too. So my research
and my memory may not be as well as it should be. If I had to never mention politics again in
my entire life, I would be just THRILLED! Sorry but that is the way I feel. It is not a difficult
subject matter, just juvenile sometimes.
However, I am still inclined to stand by the above thoughts. Careful. We also know that
President Obama has definitely made many conciliatory comments regarding negotiations with
many nations. None I necessarily want to debate as right or wrong; just actions he prefers to
take. However, I am not inclined to blame everything that seem to present some kind of
inconsistency on the Bush Administration either, though.
Nonetheless, welcome home, journalists. And negotiators. God bless you.
BTW: If I am ever in jail, feel free to come get me out, too. Friends. I generally have a good
relationship with law enforcement and following applicable just laws, though. (Don't laugh!)
However, if in a hostage situation: feel free to come get me out IF YOU CAN but do NOT
submit to ANY kind of extortion. EVER! NOT EVER!
If this site continues to get "too personal", I will just stop writing. That is not why I started it.
