In reference to comments about Cuba and invasion:
What a strange combination. United States Guatanamo Bay AND Communist Fidel ("help I've
fallen") Castro's Cuba. Not exactly the Bay of Pigs......but......
Some news reports indicate they are bringing Gitmo prison detainees to NYC to try them for
war crimes against .......aaaaahhhh......the United States. More politics. I guess there is a
GREAT deal of concern about security issues because of the trials. But still politics. Therefore,
I don't have much information to give you. Nor do I care to find it. At this time. But I wonder
where all the prisoners were arrested and the legalities and jurisdictions involved. (IF those of
the correct words to use.) I think it was in Afghanistan.
But this the travel page. So our focus is on Guatanamo Bay, Cuba. ANOTHER place that is
difficult to visit. But, I PROMISE, our travel destination will become more accessible. I am really
working on it. Stay tuned.

I can't write enough about Ireland so I won't write anything.
Except this.
Say what you want
and laugh if you must
but sometimes I just think
from a land of ancient, noble ruins and statuesque landmarks,
amidst vast and rolling hills
surrounded by the rough Atlantic waters
sheltered by comforting foggy misty skies
with that enchanting Celtic permeating the air,
the land of Ireland is calling me, "Hilda, come. Hilda, come."
The people of Ireland may not like the characterization but I DO hear it is a very mystical land.
(smile) I LOVE that type of weather, though! Always have. The only explanation must be ,
somewhere, some how I MUST have some Irish in my blood!
Or is that a missionary call similar to the kind Saint Patrick received? (smile)
Here are some travel website about Ireland:
from Wikepedia
Official tourism site
and
info please
Nothing about fairies and leprechauns, though. Gosh.
Be aware: I didn't get much information but I guess there is a SEVERE terrorism alert in the
surrounding areas. SEVERE! I guess someone expect trouble (in England?) but I can't be sure
what kind of trouble that would be. So you may have a travel issue here, also. Get more
information on the websites. You may ask, "Gosh, Hilda! Can't you just avoid controversy for
just ONE day, huh?"! But when has "trouble" kept real explorers from exploring? Never!

No mention of that "pot OF GOLD at the end of the Rainbow" either on that
loooooooooooooooonnnng, looooooong way........aaaaahhhh.....home? So leave your shovels
at home. But, otherwise, I have ALWAYS been enchanted with the land.
More about leprechauns. Hmm. Why am I reminded of the leaping trash can man in Stephen
King's book "The Stand"?
I have tried to add more links, especially about the pot of gold, but I was unsuccessful.
And, puh-leze, no, I do NOT actually hear "voices". I thought I would add that note because
some of you may be seriously concerned. Sometimes I joke too much. But it IS the best way to
describe how I feel because I have ALWAYS felt a EXTREMELY STRONG affinity to the land
itself. Even though I am a "four seasons" person, it seems to be to perfect an environment I
love: cool, rainy, foggy, misty with a beautiful landscape!
Got some links. Very interesting information about the rainbow, too.

Sorry to disappoint some of you Christians but that "call" (which is a culmination of many
elements of art, culture and etc) may not be from the....aaaah....Lord God Jehovah. (smile) I
feel the call of the LAND. Not the people, not a person, not any human being. It is the LAND!
Gosh. Such talk will absolutely FRIGHTEN my mother. (I mention her a lot, don't I? smile)
That "draw" would be akin to a religion such as Wiccan, a pagan religion which reveres nature.
Of course, don't make the mistake of associating any one religion with any one certain
country! If anyone had ever asked me if "hearing" from the land one has not known was
possible without my having my own personal experience, I would say absolutely NOT!
However, for the sake of honesty, clarity and transparency on this subject, I MUST tell you that I
DO believe it is possible. Of course, although I have had many Irish friends (and one had
volunteered to take me to Ireland when I was a teenager and "show me around") the call is
much deeper than that. Of course, there still may be some Irish in me, too. I've could have pick
that longing up from one of my relatives who may have inherited certain tendencies. The only
clue I can remember though are oyster crackers in the very deep South way back in a rural
area. We didn't have oysters. If you ask me, weird for people like us.
Anyways, I shall do more respectful research of those who revere and possibly worship the
Earth because I HAVE been "summoned". (smile) I am not the least bit frightened. All things
happen for a reason and in some cases NOTHING should be done but I don't think so in this
case. For some reason "something" has caught my attention. However, I shall remain a
Christian.
God bless you all.
And, please, do NOT proceed to DESTROY the land in order to prove you have NO Wiccan
tendencies.
Gosh! Some info on Wicca. Hmm. The book reading about Witchcraft contradicts some of the
information at the link. Good grief. According to info on Wikipedia, Wiccans revere more than
just the Earth. They practice Witchcraft! I have never heard that before!

You may ask why I don't do a genealogy search if I am even slightly interested in any Irish
ancestry.
There are several reasons. First all, race wasn't a conversation that has consumed my life and
that would be a "conversation" (and/or controversy) about race.
Second, no offense to some, but history and records ARE necessary and they DO add a
PIECE to the puzzle. But you have to be sure what kind of puzzle you are trying to put together.
One can NOT always believe historical records, especially the ones about birth. Gosh.
There are problems with records of my immediate siblings (by the same parents). I am the
ONLY person in the family whose NAME was recorded correctly on the birth certificate. (But,
then again, look at my names) The names were spelled incorrectly. And my parents were
standing RIGHT there when it was recorded. Or in the near vicinity. They couldn't even spell
the NAMES correctly!
We also hear of the tales and the abuse suffered by some who came through Ellis Island. I
don't know if it is true of not but some say there names were then changed and they were
where given names that, unbeknown to them, were an obvious insult to them and their
racial/cultural heritage. So just imagine the kinds of problems genealogical records can
produce. Not that my own Caucasians roots or any other roots can't be proven but the proving
the specifics of any genealogical record, unless it is with the most visible public figures who
were watched like hawks, could get extremely difficult and expensive; it can get complicated.
Just think "white". If, despite what they say, it is definitely difficult for them, imagine my situation.
County clerk: And, ma'am WHO is the father of this baby?
Mother: Why would you even have to ASK?
County clerk: Oh, yeah. Sure. Right.
(Clerk, sobering up and mumbling to himself: Like we haven't ALL (except your dear sweet
husband) heard about that solider boy. Well, am I the "law" or not? SOME how I will make
SURE I get THIS record right! SOME how."
To make this more clear, think of the mother as a WHITE woman and NOT a black woman.
EVERY one always assume that black women who have babies who, I will not even say white,
but "who are NOT black" where either raped or not married. I don't want to get into own unusual
family history but that idea complicates the scenario. Let us just keep it simple; keep it a WHITE
issue when thinking of genealogical research! Think: white. white. white. white, when thinking
about this issue and the possible problems. THEN think "black".
There are so many problems that can occur when doing research especially when dealing
some of the moral and legal climates in some periods. Marriage has been a HIGHLY regulated
affair anyway; you just couldn't marry who you want. Just think of some of the possible
problems on BOTH side of the racial fence. It could get complex.
Even in a racial context" "If you are even SEEN with black people, you are automatically "black".
Or else why would you be there? You certainly could NOT LIKE them!" In some places, even
"fraternizing" was against the law.
Even today the courts insist on DNA evidence when proving parentage. Furthermore, that
technology is improving every day, too. What we are not sure of today, we most likely will be
sure of "tomorrow".
Of course, I guess those same advanced scientific methods could be used in genealogical
research for those who really care. Especially if I cared whether I am Irish or a dangerous witch
connecting to something or other.(smile) But it would probably take some very advanced
scientific methods and very advanced research. It maybe easier to just be a witch. (smile) As
for me, I am primarily interested in space and time research. And aliens. Although, I am
somewhat interested in claiming my Native American heritage and rights, the other doesn't
really concern me; I already know I am a member of ONE race: the human race. The specifics
don't really concern me.
I guess the next question then, based on some history, would be "Well, are they Nazis?"
See? Oh, yes. That question DOES concern some; the questions never stop. So why start?

Mother: Aaaaaaah. My ....aaaaaah....my
husband ......of course.
