More about the invisible hand and a possibly failing system which was mentioned in the
Initial topic regarding the hand and the system.
I had mentioned FDR because of his consecutive terms as President. However, what was
not mentioned was the term of Theodore Roosevelt also.
Not much similarities between the two, except that they were both "rough riders" even
though one was in a wheelchair.
Was the system failing when FDR "inherited" it? Did we move from a system that gave the
federal government the authority they needed? For those who agree, what were the
circumstances that contributed to that transformation? All those are topics of a political
debate. I am not really interested at this time. Because when it all boils down to the people
who really need the help, what is the real difference in power between a purely capitalist
state and a socialist one? Does everyone really get the assistance they are promised?
Furthermore, does such a state exist in its pure form? CAN it exist?
What is in a name anyway? Democracy. Capitalist. Socialist. Communist. Do they really
mean anything anyway? Just labels that tend to contribute to conflict for those who would
want to assume power?
A rose .....or a Roosevelt........by any other name would smell as sweet.
Don't forget some other "rough riders" today. The participants in the Indy 500 car races. We
don't want any of them "memorialized" tomorrow. Ya know: Similar to that which is occurring
over the American car industry.
